Well done WB there has been enough derogatory remarks made so far in this thread , and just so long as that includes Everyone as I am sure it will, then we can all get on with life on a level playing field and just enjoy the forum without friend or favor .
The moderators have their rules and carry them out under the guidelines set out by Neil, and it is a huge unpaid thankless job, far too big for one person.
We as posters are only guests and are also covered by the forum rules as set out by Neil, if we go too far then we are expelled as are the moderators , though in al's case he resigned because of his actions after too many drinks he did "Quote Something freaking stupid end Quote"

Wood butcher said he was not sacked but resigned and I am sure WB is telling it as he knows it. And though as al has said " I know some of you hate me, but tough, I hate you too" then I think we should let al's sorry post (where he is trying to apoligise in his own way for his bad actions) remain un-hijacked and regardless of any individual feelings towards him give him the dignity and respect that we can, after his service as a mod, to resign gracefully and openly to the whole forum giving his reasons rather than to mearly slink away and allow unfounded rumours to speculate, as i am sure they would, as to why he is gone as a mod.

I'd just like to return to the original context of the thread, then you can drivel at will.
It seems to me that Al is under a lot of pressure. It would take a fairly serious mistake or error of judgment to make a man want to resign from a position he likes.
Everyone is treating this like a Gold Watch presentation, and saying things like "have one on me", when its blatantly obvious that alcohol got him to this stage in the first place. If the rest of his life is going down the drain as well, he doesn't need "we miss you", or have another drink all, that'll fix your problems and he doesn't need drivel. He needs reassurance and help. I noticed how everyone helped out Thumb sucker, now what about Al??? He was one of the guys who helped TS the most.
It's time for assistance, not ignorance.
Al if you want to speak to someone who may have a fair idea of what you're going through, you can talk to me. Yep, thats right.
