I put my hand up as a Floyd fan. Animals is my favourite. Also got every album Bowie made until he went mad in the 80's.

Hard to pick a favourite. The Man Who Sold the World maybe. Aladdin Sane is up there too.
Agree on Scary Monsters. He lost the plot after that."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Bowie's never lost the plot...............he just avoided being totally drawn into the "commercial/mainstream" side of the business and maintained his evolving individuality, consequently, some of his offerings haven't appealed to people.

OIY!!!
That's why I said "he just avoided being totally drawn into " .......the implication being that there are/were exceptions.
Personally, I think that is a damned good song, even had some hack guitarist with the initials SRV playin' on it. Pin Ups is probably my fave album even if it is a lot of covers.

There are the occasional good bits on some of the later albums, not that I've listened to anything much beyond Blue Jean.
I suppose what I should have said is that he lost me"I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Low, Heros and then Lodger in the late 70`s was the first i thought he wasnt the god i thought he was, then back with a vengance with Scary Monsters then unfourtunatly all down hill from Lets Dance onward. Remember Tin Machine:eek:

I started listening to him with Lodger, discovered the other stuff retrospectively. There are a couple of good tracks on it IMO. Likewise Low has some good stuff on it if you can get past Brian Eno. Not my favourites though.

Every album he put out would have a track or two on it thats good, after all the bloke is pretty special when it comes to music. Heros was the pick of the three for me. Later he done the soundtrack for The Buddha of Suburbia which i loved. But compare all those to Space Oddity, Man hwo Sold the World, the sensational Hunky Dory, Ziggy, Alladi Sane, Pin upps, Diamond Dogs and the very underated Station to Station, the post Scary Monsters are rather dull and ordinary

Station to Station is probably one of my favourite tracks. Love Earl Slick's lead riff in the tail end of it.
