As a follow up to this thread from a couple of years ago here's another cautionary tale of horse and hoof. swmbo's had another "accident" with a horse. Unbelievable. Friend's horse slipped down with a broken leg under a fence and was pinned. I got a frantic phone call to get out to the pony club as fast as possible. Unbeknown to me the horse had already kicked her in the ribs by this stage and thrown her through the air. When I arrived
and cut the fence away we again tried to right him and get him up. swmbo
again got too close and copped a kick to the face - three front teeth knocked out. Trip to emergency in the ambulance, she is OK unbelievably, except for a lot of bruising and 3 missing teeth. Sees her orthodontist on Tuesday for the start of some cosmetic dentistry. The horse was put down, but it's an understatement to say I am incandescent with anger that she placed herself in such a perilous position! And she is a very very experienced horse person. Bad flashback to the last episode.
As far as I can tell, the best use of horses is still glue

WW, no horse sense whatsoever. And as for burning jodhpurs, that'll happen when hell freezes over, and only to keep me warm

Bugger Mic!!! Sounds like a bad mix- your wife and horses that is.

Just confirms my opinion that horses are animals with a leg on each corner, any one of which can cause problems.

For all that, I do hope she recovers well and speedily.

Implants for the teeth are the way to go, I have two courtesy of a top edge sweep, three will probably set you back somewhere around $10-12k. I hope you have insurance or at least the pony club does,
