while on holiday...
Visiting yet another Central Victorian Town on a break I found a little Hardware store in very original condition with some Barker machinery out the back, the discovery that I was excited to share was to finally see a L.S.Barker Badge with a North Melbourne street address something I had never seen before let alone an Early L.S.Barker Badge.
the two machines were a 20 inch Rip saw and a Thicknesser, pictured bellow they were real survivors. The Badge was found on the thicknesser.
The North Melbourne Address of Collie St I still have to do some more looking in to but it is a start...

These machines, they call to you in the night-time, don't they Matty?
That ripsaw looks close to/exactly like the one the guy had when I got my morticer. I couldn't swear on the brand, but it is identical so far as my memory can be trusted.

Paul, they must talk to me, may be I'm the "Barker Whisperer"...LOL....
Paul the ripsaw is a barker as well, it has the L.S.Barker in cursive writing on the base, and exactly the same as my old girl.
its not easy some times identifying them, there were so many similar models and makes.

Hi Matty,
I realise it's been some time since your original post but I've just came across this.
Joe is my grandfather and he's still around - retired now but still well and kicking. I think he'd love to make contact and chat with you.
You are welcome to PM me with your details and I'd he happy to pass those onto him.
All the best, Hannah

If you send him a direct message (click on his username), it should get to him via email. More chance of him seeing it that way.

Hi Hanna, would you believe l have met your grandfather through Elizabeth, Lee Barkers daughter, we all had lunch together. But that said, I would love to catch up with Joe again, he was a wealth of knowledge on the L.S.Barker company !
Possibly when all this covid 19 excitement calms down. I hope you Joe and family are keeping well .
Kindest regards Melbourne Matty.
