Looks great to me Greg. You know we are all our own worst critics. Just having made all the head bolts for the cylinder heads on my engine I understand what you just went through. Love your photography though makes it more interesting at least for me. I do have one question though why the epoxy? I use Titebond II wood glue on everything I make and the wood gives away before it does. It sets in about 20 minutes and hard overnight. Just wondering to each his own. Everytime I have mixed up some Epoxy I feel like I am against the clock and anxious to put stuff together which is not always the best.

Keep the pics coming and make more stuff when you have time. This is no race but the enjoyment of the build and the satisfaction at the end of a job well done.

Ummmmmmm .... I used it exclusively on the liddle boat ... Its fairly harmless to humans, tho some boatbuilders do develop an allergy to it after many years use, but they use it in bucket loads daily.

If you join two pieces of timber edge on at an angle then the bending moment is at the join. You could brass pin it up thru the centre of each piece which distributes the bending moment away from the join. Epoxy does the same .. it just forms a chemical pin once it has set.

But really ... I'm familiar with it, I trust it, and it saves my numerous mistakes from becoming apparent. Also it gives me plenty of 'shed thinking time' while I am waiting for its first set, and I find this time very important .... and you can maneuver it up until that point of first set .. no problems.

Its the same for me with Amoora timber. Its the only timber I have worked with apart from some horrible stuff I started the little boat with. (Silky Oak ... a false and deceiving timber if ever there was one. Soft, does not hold a sharp edge, shines in one direction only to display dull in the other, cells vary in size thru out the grain ... ...I could go on about this stuff ... haahaa)

You're doing a good job, Greg, and as Bret says, we are our own worst critics. You see the tiny faults now, because you're concentrating on them, but they won't be noticeable even to you once you're done. This is more detailed than I'm capable of.
I'm enjoying this build, keep up the great work.

I'm with you on the silky oak one of my least favorite timbers,LOL I had a few nice logs dropped off to mill and cut and split them all into firewood

Thanks for the kind words mate.

I'm only new to this timber stuff. And perhaps many of the timbers held in high esteem on the forum have qualities that just aren't visible to me yet ... Haaaa.

Haaa ... I know I'm a bit anal about these things. But ... no experience, no knowledge .... So I figure, if each piece is as accurate as possible (allowing for Heisenberg's uncertainty principle) .... then the sum total, the finished piece, will be much better than anything I'm capable of making.

I did speak with Greg just before Xmas and he is well. He was due to call in here, but a family emergency prevented that. However he did mention that although he had made some small amount of progress on the BT19, it wasn't enough to put up any information in this thread and he was waiting until he had something significant to post.
