    Well as the obvious answer would be Everest, I guess you must be thinking of one under the ocean?

    Everest is the highest above sea level - I recall from geography many moons ago that the tallest from base to tip is in Hawaii - don't know what it's called though?

    I think technically Everest is the tallest (It certainly is the highest) Offically the term mountain refers only to mountains above sea level.

    However some will argue the highest mountain is Mauna Kea in Hawaii at 10,204m but most of it is under sea level. Everest is 8848m.

    you guys can decide who was right...
