Just home after fighting the traffic, i hate coming back from the coast on the weekends or public holidays
What a great little show, i found it more enjoyable than the brisbane timber show, the last few brisbane shows have been, quite average in my view, would love to see a more of these types of shows out in rural areas.
Although it would have been better without all the noisy kids and people
There were some nice pieces of timber left for sale, if you had the coin and a trailer,
Wouldn't mind heading up there again next year on opening day and first thing to beat the crowds with a trailer

I'm still at Maleny as I was pretty sore and tired after finishing packing up my own stall plus Tex Timbers' site last night plus I wasn't interested in battling the traffic on the way home.
What a weekend, absolutely perfect weather for the entire weekend (even today), the first time in many years. The bonfires were roaring at night with the musical instruments and plenty of refreshments for the store holders and the many helpers. The atmosphere was fantastic as everyone had pretty good sales on all 3 days due to the fine weather. I have suggested to the organisers they should set up a fire pit at night with chairs and open it up the the public as well. Better to have one big fire rather than a few of smaller ones, plus get away from the few stall holders who chose to got to bed early, camping nearby the fires.
Thanks to all that called in to my stall, especially this who bought something .
I'll leave here probably in a hour or so for hopefully a traffic free run. I was heading south again to help out on a farm but I have decided to go home and just rest for a while, the legs/back/feet are all a bit sore.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I have a question about the Wootha Prize. Is it open to everyone? If you win first prize one year, can you enter it again next year?
The person who won first prize this year, is one if the hinterland's esteemed craftsmen; his red cedar carvings are legendary. If he enters every year it could well be that he wins first prize every year, if you know what I mean.

I believe if you win the prize then you are one of the judges next year... With that in mind I would think the winner this year would not be able to enter next year

I am not aware of the rules, perhaps someone who knows could elaborate, but I do not the subjects and/or theme changes every year to ensure one particular artist's skills do not dominate (i.e. a carver may win one year, next may be a furniture make, another a turner etc - can't say I recall similar items winning each year)

Neil I resisted heavily temptation to buy as ATM I am not turning pens, I don't do knives and although both Sue and I considered buying one of those waffle blanks we couldn't decide on which one. maybe when the Jet min is re-assemble as its still packed away and I need to make a bench for it as well as two sorry three other benches in the pipe line for the new workshop. Maybe next year unless required before hand.

It was Sunday 2pm before we finally got there. Definitely not enough time.
Weather was perfect.
I was happy with my purchases. If I had been there longer I would have purchased more timber but I got enough for a few projects. Which at my snail pace will take months.
I got a great deal on some sandpaper I was planning on buying anyway. Bought 2 clamps and was very tempted to buy a lot more. Bought a few other things I wanted.
I also had an important breakthrough. My wife watched a demo of the Gifkins jig and immediately understood the value of it. I just managed to resist buying one on the spot because I'm wondering if I can stretch the budget to an Incra jig.
Next year we'll be back much earlier in the day with a much bigger budget I hope.
