You say the head is too big but I must disagree. Unfortunately I don't know your usual style but I think that if you were to leave a "rustic" obviously tool marked finish, the head size would not be a problem AT ALL , it would be perfectly harmonious as a whole , I can see a really good spirit growing within this carving. Persist with faith ! - perhaps at this point starting to respond to what is already there , as opposed to previously conceived ideas being enforced on the piece ?

Yes I like the carving , it may very well just be the photo emphasizing it but the spalting distracts the eye from the sculptural shape which is unfortunate given the high quality of the piece.

These skew chisels seem to be sharpened to a very low angle, isn't it ?
(ces nérons ont l'air d'être affutés à un angle très faible ?)
