Not bad considering the weather. Hope you got paid labourers rates not mates rates or did you have to pay them to allow you to be there.

I will be interested to see how the two become one at the hip. Must say its starting to look like the Irish Embassy in Canberra it also lacks windows.

..... and, as you can see, to comply with council requirements...

...the 2 sheds are still "SEPARATE" .......... ?

However, with the addition of (most) of the roof and gutters, the shed is starting to look like the rural cottage l had dreamt of.....

    Alan,

It's going to be a beautiful shed. I'm jealous

Congratulations on the "Sort of Retirement" - the permanent retirement is much better (although the pay isn't as good).

Will watch this Thread with great interest.

    Take Care Mate

You could have nipped down to the Big Green or Blue sheds and got sheets of alsynite to allow more light in.

Thought I had subscribed but somehow not? Good thing I saw this in the timeline again. For some reason the oics are not showing on tapatalk atm so went to Web view.

The new shed looks to be a slight imprivement on the little green on.

Paint it green. I WANT TO SEE IT AT ONE WITH YOUR INNATE WILDERNESS

Fletty, it's fine and good to have a new shed and the recycled timber can be sustainably stored outside under sheets of corrugated iron with stickers made from left over pieces of red cedar from past chair pieces and it's wonderful to recycle old sheds and pieces of iron and of course Council dictates must be obeyed at all times.

    But...... I want it green.

The world is turning green, global warming is making the deserts bloom and 12% of the Australian population only vote that way and coal fired power stations apparently will be gone, globally gone, after the Paris conference in around 2 years time. So I want you to join the green revolution as well.

I'm sure there are some paints that use organic colourants that will do fine.

Today was HOT, bloody HOT, and we definitely did too much on the shed. I have eased my dehydration in the usual manner (which is why this post is so late) but l hope that Mick, the (REAL) builder, will be in better shape tomorrow than when he left this afternoon?
We actually finished the shed today, final roof sheets, barge boards, ridging, transferred the roller shutter door and window from old shed to new and fitted the PA door.
We also erected the frame work for the verandah roof but, when the temperature got to 42deg, we couldn't even handle the roofing sheets because they were too hot .... and pulled stumps for the day.

The plan for tomorrow is to fix the roofing sheets and gutter for the verandah but we will need to get it done early because tomorrow is forecast to be another stinker! I will then need to install the stormwater pipes ASAP before we get some rain. So far, Murphy hasn't visited but it wouldn't surprise me if he (she?) isnt waiting for it to be finished in a cauldron and then flood it?
We had a treeing out ceremony today but the emotional highlight will be the first drink on the verandah with my girls.... currently scheduled for Christmas Eve

    Greg,
Green is still being considered but to camouflage it too much might leave me unable to find it in the years to come?

    Dave,
I am currently expected to attend my BIL's birthday party at Coffs Harbour on Oz Day ..... but negotiations are under way?

Wow Fletty, I turn my back for 5 minutes (ok a little longer) and look what you get up to. Great to see Just passing by tonight but I'll pop back and have a better read over the weekend. I've had my hands full moving again, for the last time. Wheelin let me know you were up to something so thought I had better investigate. Talk to you soon. CH.

    hi Claw'
Really good to 'hear' from you. I hope that you and Tack' are doing fine? I'm sorry that you are moving from that fabulous location but I know that you feared you would ultimately have to move from what is to become the Council's Centre Of Newcastle (= Council CON?).
I look forward to hearing more over the weekend, maybe I will have to get over my disdain for Facebook?

Sounds like you may need to organize an air conditioner for that shed Alan....
Even an evaporation cooler type would help in your area...
And then a log fire for winter??

    On Murphy....

I really like the way your shed integrates with the trees.

When I had our shed built the builderr required nothing within 1m of the shed but there were two small trees less than that away from the shed and it cost me carton for the subs to work around the trees and it has been well worth it.

some of the things I have been doing along the way.
