There are drills for all uses and we will never all agree on one brand.
I have had atlas copco/milwalkee 18v, several makitas. My current cordless is a Metabo, cost $300 RRP was $560 odd
It is brilliant not perfect but dam close and after 4 years have not killed it yet.
But not everyone wants to spend that much on a drill or probably uses it as hard. But it is probably the nicest drill I have owned.
I would have bought a Festool one with electronic torque control but the price was just way out of my league at over a $1000 plus batteries.
Good luck with your choice.

When I bought my first (in need of a reno) house, back in 1983, when I had a pretty good income, I bought a new Metabo 1/2" electric hammer drill. I think it cost abotu $230 at the time. Great bit of gear. Still going strong.

The CPI in March 1983 was 34.3 and CPI in March 2015 was 106.8. So a 230 drill in 1983 is equivalent to 716 now

Thanks from me also. I got one of the 4 last left as well. Having owned the TEC version for about 5 years there is no way I could let one of these slip buy. Brilliant value for money, absolutely the best drills I have used, let alone owned.
I thought I had paid $250 delivered for mine but looks like I may have paid $260...
Cheers,
Jayson

I got one too. Very happy.
Festool stung my dealer a $20 delivery charge. He was livid but managed to wangle a $20 credit off his next delivery.

My all time favourite was an AEG (9.6 I think it was ) bought in 94. It was a gorgeous thing to use. Wish they made a corded version too.
Now im a makita man. 18v just convenient for the range. Mo complaints except dome crap batteries
