I thought I had posted an update on this but I must've dreamt that (or forgotten to press the reply button).
Thanks to Peter (riverbuilder) I found a really nice guy who has an HLAB truck and who was prepared for a modest fee to transport the beast from Brookvale to Lindfield. So now I have a new piece of front garden sculpture and I am working out how to move it into the workshop.
Since the finger is unlikely to be fully operational for several weeks, I'll have plenty of time to work out a cunning plan!
Here are some photos.Cheers

As it turns out, I am going out to work in “the world” this week because we won’t have power for at least another 3 weeks, and I’m going to help a mate who’s building a new house fir someone at Lindfield. So I can probably call past and stand around and scratch my head and point and mutter things about moving bandsaws and stuff, let me know if you want me to do this.

I might take you up on that, Peter. At least to run my ideas for moving the beast past you.
By the way, in honour of the damage the beast did to me and remembering why Gretl's finger got hurt in the Sound of Music ("It got stuck"; "In what?"; "Friedrich's teeth"); the bandsaw is from now on known as Friedrich.Cheers

These things are fairly awkward to move. I managed to drive from Buderim to Hervey Bay to pickup a couple and drive them all the way back to Brisbane then back to Buderim to drop my dad off who helped me. Left at 5am and back to Buderim at about 8pm. WAS a big 15hr day and 620klms driving.
