    And then there were the Asian kids in their Hondas done up like rally cars with sponsor stickers and over shoulder harnesses.
    And the little soft toys inside the car?

    Yeah that too. Piled up all over the dashboard. What's that all about.

    I went past a car once that had a Hindu shrine or something constructed on the dash. Imagine what would happen in an accident? Someone could end up with a plastic Ganesha up the keister.

    There was a rich Indonesian kid in my class, let’s call him Suharto. Suharto used to get the latest Honda Civic every 3-6 months. The colour of the car was always black and had a spoiler.

    Suharto once offered me a lift but I said no because I preferred to walk home.

    The term "hoist by your own petard" comes to mind?

    Actually, it is “be hoist with your own petard”.

    There's letters seal'd: and my two schoolfellows,
    Whom I will trust as I will adders fang'd,
    They bear the mandate; they must sweep my way
    And marshal me to knavery. Let it work;
    For 'tis the sport to have the enginer
    Hoist with his own petar; and 't shall go hard
    But I will delve one yard below their mines
    And blow them at the moon: O, 'tis most sweet,
    When in one line two crafts directly meet.
