The cabinet turns out to be exactly what I wanted it. I still need to make the drawer stops and bottoms. I aim to apply the first coat of oil on Saturday. This monster has to be out of the way as soon as possible.

You're kidding me, this is a veneer?
Awesome awesome job.
Was the timber from Greg? I really have to get up to Sydney with the trailer at some point.

By the photos I would not really have guessed the handles to be Ebony as they looked lighter from the flash.

I saw some Tiger Myrtle at the show today. They are selling them for $45 per sheet. Yes $45. The figures weren't not as good as mine. Have another look of mine boys and girls. That is $90 right there.

I was chatting to Gordon from the NSW Woodwork Ass. today. He has not had much success with the oil/poly mix finish. So this one is for you Gordon.
I am up to the second coat and I am liking it already. I will do another 4-5 coats and let it dry for a couple of weeks then ubeautwax it. It will be beautiful. Pic 2 is how I make my drawer stop.
I know we catch up every year, but I still don't know your forum name. Please reply here so I know who you are.

OK there are 5 coats of oil/poly finish on it followed by a coat of ubeaut wax. The next challenge is to move it into the house. Our bedroom is on the second floor.

May we enquire the oil?
Good luck with the move ). I've found myself getting pretty strong over the years heaving heavy things around.

Well done Scott. Love it.

Lovely work Wongo you are a true craftsman, at $90 for the Myrtle that's a bargain for the look that you have achieved.
I would bubblewrap it before moving to avoid any little dents which I am fairly good at.[Denting furniture that is]
Thanks for posting it.
