Hi Nathan, the method I was talking about is the method I used to ensure that the rivet holes lined up. There are some pictures on post #246.
What I did, was marked on the sides of the Lever cap where I wanted the hole to be. Centerpunched the marks, drilled one side about 10mm deep to fit on the locating dowel, then with the lever cap sitting on the dowel, line up the drill bit on the other mark and start drilling, turn the lever cap over once you are halfway through and drill the rest of the way from the other side.
The result was a perfectly positioned hole.Brad.

I got to use my plane on a real job, so far it had only been used on random bits of wood to test and play.
My Mum asked for some Mahjong racks, so I knocked up a set on the tablesaw, using some Blackbean.
I cleaned up all the faces using "The Rock", and a 1" HNT Gordon rebate plane.
Both planes performed perfectly, and were a joy to use.

Way to go Brad. I made mine, in part, to put chamfers on the edges of the moulding planes I have been making. Only now I realise that the "legs" are too big and end up riding the step on the inside edge
