Wendy
Apart from what Darren said what can I say to cheer you up?
How about I let you use my avatar until you're better. It'd sorta be like Midge using that train whilst he was gallavantin around.
No, stop laughing, it's a serious offer.
Sounds exactly the same as my injury except my ankle just kept on rolling ignoring the three bones in the way, probably the inertia from five or six feet more hang time before the impact.Cheers

Thanks Fellas!
Wouldn't you know it, I emptied the last two shots of vodka Saturday night!!and of course, can't drive to get more, hmm, probably a good thing, but, being that good is not all fun.
HWMNBO came home early for me this afternoon. I think he simply used me as an excuse to leave at that time, cuz he ended up ZZZZZZZZZzing on the couch most of the afternoon. Wouldn't you know it the walking stick wouldn't reach that far and the bell disappeared too.But he did treat me to a lovely take-away dinner
Well, I have the stool in the shed but I can only sit for so long with the foot up on the workbench ( why did I make it sooo high!!!)
Skew - you got a point! I've got a CL box ready for some work that I could do sitting downand plenty of time to polish the box as well, betcha it will now rain tomorrow up here now.
Tulips?? Tip Toe?? Hop!!!Bumbling earthquake maker more like!!!
Well, I've followed the instructions to a T so far. I'm surprised by how well the over-counter painkillers actually work. On one hand that's great, on the other, it means I can't really tell how bad it is using pain as a guide. I guess I'll find out in the morning when they wear off and when I take the bandage off to inspect the bruises. We shall see about photos then Bob, only if the bruises are good ones, and you had better not have meant photos about impersonations
On a more serious note, Wheelin', my short experience trying to manouvre myself around in the wheelchair was very insightful, probably not long enough for more than a glimpse, but still an eyeopener.
Cheers

Wendy - sorry to hear about that.
I can recommend ice, more ice and more ice and then the heat and ice till the swelling and pain subside. Every hour with ice translate to 5 hours sooner you can get back in the shed. Well that's what my doctor said - and it worked.

Wendy - what a bummer! I B8ggered my ankle by treading on a tap cover while playing soccer. The cover broke, my footwent down and I went over. Ice is good (as is adult pain relief - get HWMBO to restore the depleted liquor cabinet).
Once the swelling goes down, you will need to do the physio or the ankle will be weak and you will go over on it all the time (DAMHIK) - one thing you can make is a simple balance board (a bit like a mini-seesaw) - you stand on it and rock gently from side to side stretching and contracting the ligaments and muscles on the sides of the ankle to strengthen them and to give more support to the joint. Can be done in the shed or in front of tele, but it helps.Cheers

Good morning everyone!
Well, I think I have been extremely lucky. There is little if no swelling, there are a couple of light bruises but nothing that will show in a photo, there is still some mild pain and worst of all is the feeling of things moving/cracking/not 100% right when I hobble, so the recommended treatment will be continued today.
Hi Bob, thanks for that info. Certainly seems to be be happening exactly like your description .
Jmkl89 -I'm glad you've said that. I was wondering what sort of exercises I could do to re-strengthen the ankle.
Cheers

Hi Wendy,
Ah, that pain I know so well, get well. Did a similar turn yesterday arvo. Walking down to the shed in the rain and got a really greasy spot. Over like a pollie in a shopping centre! LOML was at work but my boys were great. Their vocabulary increased somewhat!
I can still hobble so its not broken, but a very restless night. Worst bit is that we are flat out at work and when you own the business....
Still, there is cricket oneven if it is a non match
