Joing old to new weatherboards extension drama

I am sure they have done it to standards......but whose low standards have they done it to? did they do that side wall first and then the back,or was it the other way around ?

seems to me the new boards could have lined up with the old or at least been the same number of boards with even cover. The starting point for the bottom board can be influenced by a different floor structure on the extentsion. This may mean that there needs to be one more full board to cover thicker bearers or what ever. The proper way to work out weather board cover for a wall for new work is to divide the total cover . That is the top board will appear to be the same width as all the others. If this means that the boards are lapped a little more than the minimum then so be it.

Q1... why has he not lined them up with the stop batten at the bottom?
Q2... why is the stop batten not lined up with the bottom of old boards?
q3... why arent boards lined up wityh old boards.
looks like answer could be found in laziness. too lazy to cut board around window, so start here with spacing and work up from bottom once its found whether or not delivered/ordered quantity of boards will cover minimum amount of space.. Must have had his horses' racing blinkers on
