Since I mentioned it I dont mind doing it...
That is sorting out the subtopics with help of others and moving the posts into each.
I'm a network admin so I can be trusted not to stuff it up and dont mind giving the webmaster my credentials.

Are you going to go through every thread in the Home Reno forum and categorise them?

I realise someone's spent a fair bit of time on this, but was it really necessary and is it such a good idea? I used to check the home reno forum every few days, and it was pretty easy to keep on top of the messages. If you're doing a home reno then most, if not all, of the topics covered by the subheadings are relevant. I don't have time to visit 10 different forums, so unfortunately I won't get to see many of the posts (and consequently won't post as much). The search function made it easy enough to find relevant posts.
Anyway, if everyone else thinks lots of smaller forums is the way to go, then fair enough.
Theremin.

To Theremin - You could subscribe to the Home Renovations Forum and set yourself up to receive daily, weekly or monthly email telling you of new posts in all sections There are easier ways than wading through 10 forums.
Doing it with a heap of subject specific forums will make it easier in the long run to find subject specific posts. The search engine is only as good as the criteria you give it and can easily miss a lot of pertinent posts.

To anyone else who doesn't like it........ Give it a fair go to see how well it works. In 3 months time let us know your feelings about it, and if the overwhelming majority say they hate it and want it back the way it was I will consider doing it.

It has taken a number of people many tedious hours of hard work to get it to where it is now and for the moment I have no intention of undoing all their great work just because a couple of people aren't happy or don't like it.
Every time something is changed on these forums there are 1 or 2 who find fault and complain. Fair enough too (we need constructive criticism from time to time to help us grow) however the other 9,206 members for some reason either don't complain or give accolades and our membership just keeps growing.
"If you build it, they will come." Well we built it and they continue to come. Makes me think that we must be doing something right.

No worries, I'm happy to give it a go. Didn't know about the email facility. Was just expressing an opinion which is, after all, what these forums are all about.
Gee 44 posts eh. We're really going to miss you.
