    Yes,interesting, but not puzzling. Rumpole was quite popular on the Murrican tube in the early 1980s, and the phrase, but not the acronym, was immediately and enthusiastically embraced by viewers. Rumpole was quite the literary wonk so not surprising he'd be familiar with Haggard's novel. (via author John Mortimer, of course).

    Actually was our Public Broadcasting System. They show a lot of UK productions.

    Neanderthals get a bad press. Actually research has shown that their craniums were larger than Homo Sapiens. Seems we were just a little more aggressive when we met.

    As too SWMBO, first time I came across it was in the early eighties. One of the yachts in our club was called it.

    Suggest a read of Rider Haggard. Forget names like Darth Vader. Rap your minds around Umslopogas of the big axe and Makomazan. These names have a real ring.

    I know this reply has little to do with wood work per se but it's a brutally cold morning here in Melbourne and I ain't going to the workshop just yet.
