James
Another amazing project. I have to assume you are able to source markets for products of these logs as this is far from the first one.

Milled and stacked..the little branch logs anyway!
Hi all
It's been a long wait, but for all those that were curious we have processed the small 4 tonne branch logs off this monster we salvaged a few years back. Milled a flat top on it, then took three clean slabs, followed by some nice table sets of 50mm boards. Left the natural edge on a few boards for some interesting feature rails under the slab tables that will be made one day.
The prep work for this log can be seen in another post I did a few years back called "Big log preparation...a few pics" if you are interested how the entire process started. Hopefully milling the big butt log later in the year..that will be a mission in itself!

That is just so good to see James.
As a kid I lived ina milling area in NSW. It was not uncommon to see logs of this size come into the mill but as the years passed the sight became rare.
We were luchky enough to see much of the work done at the mill - back in the days before workplace health and safety became an issue, and before people got litigation crazy.
