    Because they design for assembly, and don't even think about repairs until afterwards. Cars are built from the inside out. Repair manuals often state, "Based on a complete teardown," because that's the only way to get at everything. I've seen some written repair procedures that are really wee-yerd. Like releasing the engine mounts to change spark plugs, and those are the simple ones.
