    for the price of that log you could buy a fair few slabs from the same mob, and have half the import problems

    to my knowledge its been air dried for quite a while and is fairly bone dry, but having not had much experience with milling logs, i'm not sure what could happen if it were to be cut up?
    This was the reason why I suggested sawing it up in the first place. Its not only the bark you will have trouble with, any voids or cracks are also going to be a no no. If the log is dry sawing wont cause surface checking. Don't dress the timber as this may cause surface cracks.
