Honestly - there is not much to be done for a broken toe. Provided it is still straight then ice for the first 24-48 hours to stop bleeding into the tissue followed by heat, to promote blood flow for tissue repair is all that you can do.
Broke my little toe once on a steel caster on a lounge chair on my way to the bathroom in the small hours of the morning. After putting Eddie Murphy and Richard Prior to shame with the number of expletives in the one sentence I too a moment to survey the damage.
Little toe was folded over the one beside it at almosy a 90' angle. After straightening it, I iced it and went back to sleep. Can still feel the lump where the break has mended.
