Hi Mark, welcome to the asylum
LOML is Irish, and I think some has rubbed off on me...for instance, on St Paddy's day I like to drink beer
Woodwould...story about Bushmills. When I was in high school a bunch of us guys would hang out, drink beer, smoke cigarettes, typical teenage BS stuff.
Once an older guy consented to get us a bottle of Old Busmill's. Between the five of us it took 2 weeks to down that stuff...man it was strongCheers,
Ed

Any whiskey is better than none.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Hi there, got a bit of Irish in me myself. Dads Irish, from Culley Backey in Northern Ireland, County Antrim. We all lived there, went from NZ in about 1967, went to the Diamond Primary for a while.
Lived in country areas. remember being snowed in once when the lane was about a couple of foot in snow, seemed like it anyway when i was about 9.
Anyway hope you can ditch the crutches in the near future.
Have fun on the site.

Whats the craic Mark, another paddy here too! I'm from Dublin. Came over here as a backpacker, met an aussie bird and never left! I'm now a 3rd yr apprentice carpenter. It's a grand spot, but I tell ya, I do miss the social life of the pubs, not the same here. But it's still a sound spot none the less. Plus the government gives out free money for doing nothing! They just handed out $900 to everyone! Lovely!
Nothing more satisfying than physically making something yourself, then standing back and admiring your hard work. Keep it up mate

Record Hand Planes/Tools
G'Day Mark
Nice to see some one from Ireland on the fourm. I am from Co Meath and I have been in Australia 35 years. I am a bit like yourself and had an accident 6 years ago and like yourself very slow. You are lucky you can do about an hour I can only do about 20 to 30 min. Then rest. I have been collecting Record Tools for about 40 years so with a lot of time on hand what can I do so with a lot of help from my son we set up a web site on The History of Record hand Plane and how to date them. You can find me at www.recordhandplanes.com
Have a good one

Welcome Mark,
It's a great forum and covers much more than wood work.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people claim links to Ireland. I can understand it because the principal export of Ireland used to be people.
I was born a (true) Cockney. That is one born in the sound of Bow Bells in the City of London and NOT the east end Bow bells. However it's not going to stop me claiming an Irish connexion, "Begorrah- Top of the Morning ter ye " - and other pseudo Irish exclamations. I didn't even drink Irish Whiskey or sink a Guinness. In the days when I was allowed to drink, I was an Islay fanatic.
However got to get in the act. My MIL was born in County Cork in what used to be called Queenstown. So LOML has dark hair and Irish eyes. As long as you Irish geezers don't start speaking that garlick stuff we'll get on fine

Yeah. It is an interesting thing to have St Patrick day celebrated here in Australia and a big day at that.
