I have taken advantage of the 10% here at Browns Plains on several occasions and had no trouble. I saved $250 plus on a hot water heater, and that was great.
I have ought tools from BB because they are handy to me and were open on Sunday. For instance an electric drill, 1050 Chinese Watts. It stuck in reverse after 34 batten screws. II took it back - No problem sir, get another one off the shelf and show us your docket!
I also bought a big Ozito Hammer drill bcause I had to drill holes in concrete. The Drill I already had purchased just wouldn't do the job, partly becuse in hammer mode the chuck works loose. $89 for this baby and it chews through concrete like termites in crapiata.
As I left the store the greeter, who also checks dockets against purchases as you leave, told me to photo copy the docket in case I had a warranty claim. The reason to photocopy? The dockets fade over time!
All in all I am quite happy with the Big Green Rabbit Hutch.

I've successfully used the OfficeWorks price guarantee.
The item has to have been advertised and must also be available.
On an exxy multi-function printer I took the newspaper ad from a computer 'bucket shop' down, the counter jumper rang to see if it was available, and bingo.
OW is just down the road; the 'bucket shop' was half way across town. Well worth the effort.Cheers, Ern

Must admit I had a pretty good experience with Bunnies a couple of years ago. I bought the big Triton router from them for the full price and talking to one of the other forumites on here I was told that he had bought the same router that week at around $60 less. I was a bit p'eed off about this and asked him to send me a copy of his receipt, which he did and I fronted up Bunnings along with the receipt and a copy of the advertisement of the said router from the companies online catalogue. Bunnings actually honoured their claim and refunded me the difference plus 10% so I ended up getting the router at 10% below the advertised price of their competitors. I thought this was pretty good service considering I had the router for a few days.
Reality is no background music.

I gave up looking at Bunnings about 5 years ago, I could never find anything in stock that I wanted, and am still waiting for them to call me back about something I ordered.
Now Bunnings is the LAST port of call and only if I am desparate, and the post is slow delivering my internet purchases!I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

I've used Bunnings in the past for the same reasons. They're also the only place near me that stock hardwood - even though it's dodgy as - and are open late on Sunday arvo. But I'll just have to get better at planning projects, I suppose.
Sounds like the staff at your Bunnies are a step up from the ones at Mascot. The guy I spoke to at Mascot was not only not interested in honouring the guarantee, I was made to feel like I was pulling a swift one in even asking - even though everything he himself said was either wrong, or a lie. He has no business being in a customer service job.
If I ever go back to Bunnings, it won't be to Mascot. The two guys I spoke to at Rockdale were a world of difference, knowledgable and helpful, and not only that, but interested in their products. For example, we got talking about Triton, and they were also very interested to hear Triton were back on the market, and said they would definitely be pointing the customers who asked about Triton still to Carbatec.
So maybe some good will come of this for Triton owners in that part of the world.

The quality of the staff and the quality of service here at Bunnies has improved markedly over the last 2 years or so.
There are staff members who have been there for years and know just about evrything or can put you straight onto

I don't take advantage of price match guarantees out of principle! If someone is willing to advertise a product at a good price, then I am going to support them (especially if they are a small business). Going to the big box Bunnings / Office Works etc is only going to kill off that competition and we will all end up paying higher prices. Bunnings is NOT cheap for a lot of their products (not to mention quality issues), so I always look elsewhere first. I also see OfficeWorks mentioned in this thread - I find them expensive for MOST things and so will never support their monopoly intentions by using their price matching - it just gives them a way to easily monitor their competitors prices and put them out of business.

My best price match was when I had to buy a load of cement, checked all of the local prices and Bunnies was the cheapest. Bought a bag at one Bunnies then went to the next one and showed them the receipt. They matched it 10% off. Bought a bag and went back to the first store, showed them the new receipt, they offered their 10% and I bought 20 bags at effectively 20% off. Didn't want to push my luck by going to the second store again. Thought that i might try a third store but there wasn't one on my route to work.

They might do the 10% thing but only if you ask, and they don't change the ticket price, so if muggins walks in after wanting more of product X, you have to go through the whole routine again.
To grow old is mandatory, growing up is optional.
