I have a 1.5hp contractors saw and have cut 50mm Karri (WA not NZ) using a CMT ripping blade, single pass no problems, just feel your way through like any saw, mine didn't bog down or do anything silly, just purred along happily.
As for the Triton 3hp or whatever, remember this is a brush motor not induction, and direct drive not belt.
The induction will deliver when the revs have built up.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
