Another 30 second mortise - and floating tenons with hand tools

Well - think there's fairly universal agreement that chopping out Australian hardwoods is demanding. Could not imagine chopping out 48 of them, in softwoods maybe, but in woods that sometime's make my chisels bounce (the chisels are sharp), could say not say I would be keen.

Took an interest in Robs mighty Wadkin - never knew that chain and HCM's were combined into one. Looked around at those machines and similar - including the oscillating chisel style and the chain mortisers.
For curiosity, tried cutting a mortise , similar size to Robs, using the F type drill bits and squared ends- took about 5 min, manually. Not including breaks.


Shouldn't investigate ato much, as now I am puzzling out a third mortising style. But this third style will not happen in hurry as it requires tooling fabricated, that will extend the journey.

Silent or at least quieter mortising is what I'm after. As much as I love to chop wood, I think I need something with a motor. Otherwise, I'll avoid making them which would be a shame.
