If you sandwich the brass between the cutter and an angle block it should not flex away. I have (as probably do many others) a 1mm slitting saw that would do the job. If it is only one piece of brass 8mm diameter, 18mm long with a 6mm deep 1mm wide slot down the length I could even do it for you.
