Some forumite member with a metal lathe could make a small living out of these.

A CNC mill would be the best option as it could cut the slots and mill the square shanks. Quantity would be the key to good pricing. Maybe approach the company that Thumbsucker used for the fancy chisel handle ferrules. They were incredibly cheap.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

First Batch Closing..
I will be closing the book for the first batch in the next few days, I will be getting extra's based on the theory that a few spares will never go astray.
Hopefully to get the order in to MikeW by the end of this week.
When they arrive, I will have a final price, and will need payments before I post. You can opt to bail out at that time, as I don't mind hanging onto any extras
I will send out PM's to everyone with the relevant details when that time comes.
As far as getting them made locally, the stumbling block is quantity, they generally want larger quantities than a few hundred to get the cost per unit down.
Regards
Ray

I have placed the order today with Mike Wenzloff, and I am hoping for delivery sometime next week.
I think I picked the day when the exchange rate hit a 2 month low.. (doh!) I won't know the
exact $A amount until I see the credit card account.
Ok, the on-line account has shown up, and after allowing for exchange rate and postage it comes out
to $ 5.72 each ( which is slightly better than the original estimate of $6 )
My thanks go once again to Mike Wenzloff, without his generous support this would
simply not be happening.. Thanks Mike.
Please expect to receive a PM with details of your order next week.
If you are coming late to the party, I have ordered a few extra 1/2" split nuts, but the
quantity is limited. As always, first come first served.
Regards

Ray would it be OK for me to ask for:
10 of the 1/2" screw/nut sets please?
I'll understand if I have missed the boat.
With thanks
Kevin
