I am currently using a digital vernier caliper (6") as my quill digital readout but I am thinking about changing it to one of these

I already have 2 of these for my X and Y axis and they work very well indeed.

They are easily cut to the length you want.

i was thinking one of these Big Shed

they appear to bolt straight on where the ruler is on the Bridgeport clone aka BM30

Seems a lot of extra money for basically a sheetmetal bracket extra, the small brackets at the end of the scale come with the Ozmestore as well, so all you would have to make is the sheetmetal bracket on the side?

This is what the Ozmestoe scales like on my DM45, also show the modified vernier.

I have the same mill and opted for a new 3 axis readout and extra scale for Z axis.
I intend to install it on the knee and leave the quill alone for now. It ended up costing as much as getting a 3 axis kit so look at your options carefully.

Looking at the DRO you have a link to it might be good to fit that as well so I have a drilling depth reading.

I don't know why they didn't install the 3 axis on the mill in the first place.

I had them fit the 3rd axis for the knee and asked for the Easson dro which I got in lieu of the one they fit as standard

but I want the quill dro as well.

I was going to ask for a 4 axis dro but I thought it would have been too dear let alone the fitting extra fitting cost of the 4th axis scale...the 3rd was bad enough..in my opinion

I am not very observant
I can now see the knee scale on the left hand side facing the machine. Good thinking getting it done before delivery.

I think trying to get a glass scale working off the quill would be difficult and much easier to fit a DRO there. I'd be interested to see how you mount it if you go down that path. I assume the slide you would fit to the depth stop and if you do can you keep the depth stop function?

For your info I got a heap of 30 tooling off YS on ebay for good prices.

I found them cheaper than CTC if you considered freight with it. They also send expess freight and I had most bits within the week. Quicker than you can get a B'mer delivered.

CTC take around 3 to 4 weeks for their orders to reach Perth and I think their freight prices are high. I do use CTC so I'm not knocking them.
