So what of our future are we going to sit around and look at the past and wish where's it all gone. Why can't I do that anymore?
So what can you do now?
I wan to know what tomorrow will bring our dreams when younger we have accomplished now for the future and further dreams.
One that woman will relate to is no one has yet devised a decent Ironing system many have tried.
I know woman who pay to have it done hubby has no idea.

I think lots of us just like a moan.
with all the talent on this forum, every town could have a youth woodwork club, but do we do it?
If suggestions are made all you get are a host of excuses.
we'd need a police check
the insurance costs
the kids would vandlise it
etc etc etc
this is all bull tish,
there is an archery club I take my kids too.
its been running for eons
the tutors are all old archers
they have never had a serios accident
they must have insurance
the cost of equiptment must be met somehow
and its cheap enough for almost anyone to join
So any takers?
I'll put my hand up

ASTRID top idea
there are youth groups of all sorts everywhere PCYC would be a good place to start they seem to focus on fighting of all sorts as well as Basketball.
High Schools and TAFE's have all the equipment why not utilize one of there class rooms they sit doing nothing for 3 months a year plus all the after hours and weekends.
We already pay for all the tools, machinery etc..

Ive done this before reclaiming wasteland for a playground.
Im more of a refinisher myself and only have basic WW skills.

Volunteer Groups are like that Astrid.
Its always just a few who are prepared to get involved and actually do something.
It typifies the old saying "if you want to get something done ask a busy person to help"

I remember when the likes of Cub's, Scouts, Boys Brigade, CEBS used to do woodwork some scouts groups even built their own halls
Now they're lucky if they get to build a fire

nowadays theres a lot more crafts available to do rather than just woodwork.
The decisions on which particular crafts to do are set by individual leaders.
sadly theres less bushcraft, but theres also a lot less bush

Red Tape
I believe that RED TAPE would kill off any chance of doing this type of thing in this day and age. Its a creeping reality that is having an effect on almost every thing which involves the humble volunteer. You can almost be sued for just being youself now, and god help you if you do slip up. There are plenty of ratbags who will see to that.
Whilst it is very rewarding being a volunteer it has become a minefield of perceived realities and unfortunately we have a couple of generations of people who wish to become wealthy at some other poor blighter's expense which has unfortunately curbed such creative activity.

I disagree, I also expect you could get grants to get it up and running
