you might try getting them to quote you a price to their depot in brisbane instead of out to your place (if you havent already done this) that is if you have the means to pick it up there of course. Worth ringing around the furniture removalists to see if they have any work coming up to Wagga and get backloading rates. Have you rung Wagga Wagga truck companies? use the yellow pages on the net for their numbers, slow but works.

I was just browsing through and read about your delivery woes. SWMBO and I just purchased a machine weighing 160 kilos including the pallet and standing at 1.2 metres high. It is a specialised machine and very fragile.
We bought this machine from Dandenong (Vic) and had it transported to Dirranbandi (Qld).
All up cost was $600.00 with a journey from Dandenong to Melbourne then to Sydney. From there it was transported to Archerfield, Toowoomba, St George and finally to Dirranbandi. Yes, we tracked it every inch of the way due to the cost of the mongrel and the fact that this (used) machine is very difficult to come by in Australia.
I'm sure this is useless information by now, but if it is any help, I can supply the name of the original company if it's not too late.Of course I'm brave, I'm afraid of NO man, and only a few women.
