Back in the shed again It is now time to put the stringing in the top four panels. Not difficult but time consuming. Need to be careful when cutting with the grain. Cutter wants to follow the grain. One on the way and three more to go.

And still it goes on. The panels for the top doors now have their stringing fitted and a coat of FW tung oil applied. This ensures that the oil goes right in under the slot in the door frame. A second coat will be applied once the panels are in place.

I'd say that this is the only way you will get one of these. Takes a bit of time but should be worth it.

Today I finished getting the frames ready. The photo shows the two top doors being dry fitted. Next step will be to give the frames a final sand then glue up prior to giving them a first coat of tung oil. Then on to making the frames that go around the inside of the doors.

Finally found some shed time. The top doors have been assembled and given one coat of FW tung oil. currently working on the frame that is attached to the inside of the doors to house various tools. Hope that it does not as long to get this stage finished.

Well all I can say is that this project is moving slower than molasses. Now have the top doors hanging with the frames attached. Still being fitted out though. Have had a "not happy Jan" moment. The doors originally worked well with a 1-2mm gap between them. However with a door that is now 65mm deep there is no way that they will open with such a narrow gap - more like 6mm. Problem is I have found images for two chests that have similar doors and they appear to have a small gap between the doors. Anyway we continue to move forward.

Are you quit sure that is for tools
You are going to have some very happy tools. They will undoubtably do better work having such a nice new home. It should be nice for you also to see that cabinet in your shop when you go in to work. Well done!

Except for a small amount of fitting out the cabinet is finished. These will be the last images posted. Thanks to all those who commented on the project.
