With the number of different forums here, a better option might be one to ignore all forums except the ones you want to see rather than selecting the ones you don't want to see.
There's been some discussion of this over at vbulletin.org. The result is that there are several 'hacks' to ignore forums/threads but nothing officially supported.Geoff

Bring it on you vbulletin geeks!
I visit other, dedicated forums for photography, politics, current affairs, CAD, cars, racing, antiques, dogs etc. and I come here to enjoy woodworking with woodworkers..
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

You could always write yourself a little GreaseMonkey script to filter the forums you don't wish to see.

The is a complete rewrite of vBulletin due in the next few weeks, this is a feature I would like to see included. It should be possible to do with almost no server overhead or client side slowness.

As DJ said it can be done and many have had it done in the past. However it isn't just a matter of hey presto it's done. It is a time consuming pain in the but, so..... Be warned. If you decide later, that you want even one forum turned back on, you will get the lot and there will be no turning off again.
Like I said it's a time consuming and slightly annoying job and the admins and mods really don't need a bigger workload than they already have just because someone changes their mind.

Well I apologise then for any inconvenience I caused DJ. I didn't realise modifying my preferences was such a tumultuous task. DJ could have just politely refused my request.
Just imagine the satisfaction us punters could have and the freedom the mods would have if vbulletin make the proposed changes to the forum software..
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Geez Woodwould, it seems you've caused a bit of a kerfuffle over in pen turning,
who would have thought they would get so upset with you removing them off your page,
and the things they've been saying about you . you'd think the mods would remove those posts.
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?
