It's always the same. Langer a big ton in the first test and then nothing much after that.

The Big Cheeslander, crap under pressure as usual. notice his average slipping close to 50 now. Just shows how poor he's been in recent times.

At least we have Punter and Huss. They are a class above the others.

I take my hat off to the Australian Team. The Poms had the chance to take this game but they just shut down and let the Aussies off the hook, and to their credit they played awesome cricket.

Still not in the bag but I think it is close enough.

    Outstanding effort from the team!

We'll have the Ashes back by Christmas!

The Poms are all going to be head cases after this one.

    How cool was that!!!!!!!!!!!

And even better the truss guy turned up on his way home from work to help us with the trusses and over a few beers he sat and listened to the cricket with us.

    He was a POM!!!!!!!!!

    What a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet day!

And where are all those whingers about test cricket being boring?
There was a young boy called Wyatt
    Who was awfully quiet
    And then one day
    He faded away
    Because he overused White

    Where's JOW104?

Where did you get this from. My check from the last few series didn't show this. He manages a test average over 45 which is historically excellent for an opener.

If they play 5 bowlers in Perth, Martyn will be dropped. I think the selectors will give him another go as we wouldn't have won the Champions Trophy if it wasn't for the batting of Martyn.

It seems like my winning rant was dissappeared by gremlins!

Well played I say, and the reason I love watching test cricket. These sorts of results come up every year or two despite the hyperbole of the moment and if I may hark back to a few enthusiastic comments by some commentators during the day...

Let's put this in perspective, this is NOT the greatest comeback after a side scored more than 550 in Adelaide in the first innings. If I may take you back a mere three years:

    Day 1: Australia 400/5 (Ponting 176*, Gilchrist 9*; 90 overs)
    Day 2: Australia 556, India 180/4 (Dravid 43*, Laxman 55*; 51 overs)
    Day 3: India 477/7 (Dravid 199*, Kumble 1*; 143 overs)
    Day 4: India 523, Australia 196, India 37/0 (Chopra 10*, Sehwag 25*; 10 overs
Result: India won by 4 wickets

Does that scoreline look familiar, or am I suffering from deja-vu again?

Them thar injuns could play cricket in them days!

And a few enthusiastic comments by posters to this thread:

When Warne bowled in the first innings, he obviously kept the scoring rate down enough so that England were lulled into declaring even though they had a team still to bat.

The Australian team NEVER gave up, the English team NEVER played for a win and payed the price.

The last Ashes series was lost by two runs, England actually fought like an Australian team then, let's see if they've had the stuffing knocked out of them.

jow needs to hire a television!

    Cheers,

    P

That was a good finish by the Aussies...the Poms didn't really think they could stop us when they stepped back on the field.
Maybe no changes to the line up?

    Cheers!
