Doesn't detract from it being an awesome buy. IMO these are worth their regular price, any discount one can get is simply gravy on top.

I've pulled the trigger on this amazon deal. Spoke to a mate with one and got his impression. He's changed the chuck for a more accurate hole dimension. Both agreed for my lightweight need it's a definite bargain. Drilling some 'straight' holes yesterday in 10mm nylon sheet by hand was the final straw. Walked straight inside and hit the buy button.

So tempted. I saw one for the first time at a mate's place yesterday.

Edited: Ah, stuff it. I just bought it

Thanks for the info Jimbo. I bought the feed hub wheel set you identified on Aliexpress for $42.23 delivered. It's installed and I'm happy with the change. The only problem is an aesthetic one. There is a small gap between the hub wheel and the machine. The old plastic space doesn't fit. Did you bother finding one or just leave it?

I just left it. Let me know if you have any bright ideas.

BTW it is $274 again in Amazon's boxing day sales for those that are still thinking.

    A few question, please.

Is this the only compatible alternative keyless chuck for the Bosch PBD40.
Rohm 871050 Type 136 Supra 13S Keyless Drill Chuck 1/2-20 NC Thread 40.2mm Diameter 1-13mm Clamping Capacity

    Best place to buy, please.
Amazon.au - Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

Interested in any alternatives, keyless/keyed, places to buy.
Only other place I have found is Amazon.com US$78.45

EDIT: The Amazon.com price has gone up by about $33, they must be using cookies.

    thanks
    Keith

Jimbo and BEM, those hubs you've linked to have a 22mm ID. The bosch's spindle is 20mm. Are you just tolerating a slightly off-centre hub, or is there an option I'm missing?

    I just measured mine, it's 19mm (18.97 so allowing a bit of +-)

The chuck is showing up for me on Amazon AU via UK for $125.46 which is only $2 more than when I purchased. I imagine any chuck with the 1/2"-20 mount would fit.
Rohm Supra Keyless Drill Chuck 1/2 Inches, 1 Piece, 871050 with 13S 1 to 13 mm : Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement

Mine arrived today and the runout measured about 2cm below the chuck dropped from approx 0.12mm to less than 0.02mm

Very happy with the PBD 40, especially for the price. If it ever didn't meet my needs I'd be going for a Nova Viking, never going back to belts without fine speed control.
