I’m quite looking forward to just sitting back and relaxing for the day.
Sally and I have had quite the week so far, with work and a family member deciding he would like too have a stent(small heart attack ) as they seem popular with his side of the family.
Tho he is only 28 .

So Doug Benny I do hope your not expecting me to knock out a few handles on Saturday.
But of course I will have lots of helpful and non helpful advice in bucket load as normal.

I had "one of those days" in the shed yesterday.Normally if I catch myself doing something wrong, I stop and assess if my head is in the right space to stay in the shed. Yesterday, I started out by trying to drill a hole in my saw handle with a drill bit the wrong end around in the drill press.I should have left the shed but there was too much to do so I carried on.Nothing really bad happened but I am not real happy with how the stuff I did turned out. I managed to fix most of the problems I created when I was a little careless with some drilling operations.I finished up making some brass bushings to drill through to fix problems of holes not being concentric. Seriously, there's nothing hard about concentric holes but I was stuffing it up all day.Today, in between a couple of medical appointments, I just have to finish fitting the sawnuts and drill the holes in the sawplate and then I will be ready for Matt's place on Saturday.Hopefully today goes smoother for me than yesterday.EDIT: Why is the forum software removing my paragraphs and turning my work into a wall of text when I post?

The count down is now on 13 hours till I must drag my hot body out of bed,
An clean some workbench space, so two fine gentlemen may raffle in my fine company tomorrow.
An avoid any crap weather Ballarat throws at us.

Well today has been and nearly gone.
Doug and Jools arrived approximately a moment after 10 am
An after a brief tour of the steel manor was straight down into the creative zone unpacked his gear and was ripping right into his D8 reproduction.
Benny arrived a short time lately and after good morning how do you do.
Dumped Mum in the sitting room and was in the creative zone being shown the fine things in life and my patent pending saw handle carving tool(pm if you would like one there only $289 plus postage).
Unfortunately ,Benny was a little under the weather, and only stayed for an hour or two.
But ,I must say there is a sweet little saw on its way ,very impressive.
Doug stayed till after lunch(Thank You Sally for catering)
Were more lies were told and little bit more D8 work was done.
Before departure mid afternoon ,for some rust hunting.
Thank you both guys for coming,
it was a very relaxing but fun time.

Thanks Matt and Sally for hosting the day and for providing a lovely lunch. I didn't break my diet - I blew it to pieces.

After two days of one-on-one sawmaking with Benny in my shed in the lead-up to Matt's day, it was good that Matt took the lead in helping Benny today so that he gets someone else's perspective on things. His saw is coming along well. It is a credit to Benny's attentiveness, respect and keenness to learn that both Matt and I have invited him to come back to our respective sheds to help him get his saw finished.

Paul (Bushmiller) we spared a thought for you having to work and being so far away. We know that your spirit was with us today and thank you for that.

My own thumbhole ripsaw handle is coming along nicely, but no further progress will be made until after I return form my Easter break. My limited amount of useful activity time will be dedicated to organizing our camping gear for the next week.

Matt suggested that we visit the Mill Market (a local Craporium in Ballarat) on the way home where I found a couple of interesting items including a book on traditional woodcraft. Jools found a good quilting shop along the way somewhere.

It was a great day.
