French Polish Recipe Request

Howdy - Wanting to compare notes on French Polish (Bug Shell) recipes. Relatively new to the Southern Hemisphere and looking for local insight.

We start with 50mm of Orange bug shells in a .5L jar;
cover with denatured alcohol and shake on occasion to disolve;
let her rest over night;
filter with a coffee filter leaving bug legs and wax behind;
then top up with denatured;
split this in half (using second 300ml squeeze bottle);
and top both up with denatured

we know that we would do better to weigh the bug-bits but... this gives us about the cut that we look for in finishing our guitars. much prefer shooting poly, but am going to be building a classical based on some 100yo plans and am thinking to go the traditional route.

I reckon you should start by buying and reading the bible (sorry The Polisher's Handbook) That would be regarded as the best practice in Oz.

What I do is cover an amount of shellac with DAA, allow to dissolve day or so, Cut that 1:3 with DAA. Bottle mixture and then break down further 1:6 with DAA for use. Body up with that then rubbing and finally using less and less until Pure DAA for spiriting off.

The only DAA I know is Diacetone Alcohol, and that won't get you very far.
