Hi troops :D

Am about to ask an electrician to come over & have a look at my house & see if there's any major problems. But before he gets here I would like to know a few things.

1. Do I prepare a list of things that seem dodgy?

2. Does he need access to roof cavity & under house?

3. Does the "CoC" itemize all electrical bits, EG: every single power-point, light socket, switch & HW system etc, or is it just a receipt stating all is OK?

4. If faulty / dangerous, then can he sign it stating it’s poor / unsafe, without me having to fix it immediately? Or will I get disconnected til it's fixed?

5. Approx cost for inspection?

Examples Ceiling fans switches, speed dial operates in reverse to other room & one setting won’t activate fan. Looks like cream coloured telephone cable (2 strands) has been used for some light fittings :?

House Built in 50’s, is fibro clad, corrugated metal roof, brick stumps 300mm high approx, supporting wooden floors. NSW North coast.

Lets be very clear, I do not DIY in electricity & will treat any advice given here with the "forum disclaimers" in mind.

Cheers
Cam
