Hi everyone. Please bear with me, new to the forum and very happy I found it. I'm wanting to get back into woodworking, in particular wood turning although I haven't done anything with it since school 16 years ago.
I just have a question regarding lathes, I'm wanting to buy a wood lathe, Is GMC an ok brand to start off with or should I not even bother and save for a better quality one like JET? And are there any classes in Gold Coast/Brisbane area? I'm in Yatala. I need to get all the basics back again.

GMC lathe does not have the greatest reputation in the world but can be had very cheaply if you can find one. If you are not in a desperate hurry to buy a lathe, then by all means hang on until you can afford something better like the Jet as dai sensei suggests. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
