Hi All

We had been planning on doing renovations to our house, but for me its all getting too darn hard.

So far we have tried to get quotes from Architect, cabinet makers x 3, timber flooring and the list goes on.

We did manage to get a quote from a builder which was way over the top. How can it cost 55K to brick up an outside wall 3 metres long to height for a kitchen bench, put in windows for that length, put in a ceiling for a room 4m x 4m and 1 bifold door. 2.5metres long. There is more to our renos but this is just one part.

I reckon there would be no more then $15k in materials which leaves 40K labour. Even working on $100/hr thats 400 hrs.

I have thought of sub contracting the whole lot out myself, but the house is three stories, and i am terrified of it collapsing. I did ob our last house and it was so easy.

If it wasnt for the fact our house has beautiful ocean and inland views i would sell and move on. But hubbie just loves this house.

I wonder how many people give up and move on.

Caz
