Kero / Diesel fan heaters
Another day today shivering in the garage. 12.7 degrees and that's with the heater running. For some reason I seem to spend most of my time in there thinking about heating rather than getting on with the job...
So I've been looking at all sorts of heating ideas. It's a 140m2 area (enclosed) but with lots of cold surfaces - roller doors, concrete, brick etc to either let out or soak up the heat. So I'm thinking of 10 - 20 kW not a 1kW bar radiator or fan heater.
I'm thinking about those gas / diesel / kero fan heaters and wondering how well they work? I'd go for diesel if possible since that's a lot cheaper for me to buy than LPG or kero. And these heaters supposedly are available in diesel models which seem to be fairly cheap (judging by this US one here http://www.heatershop.com/kerosene_f...ir_k50_fa.html )
But how much fumes do they give off? Is it like a kero heater? Or am I going to suffocate whilst trying to keep warm? As I said, diesel's a lot cheaper than gas unless I get a big LPG bottle (which I don't think they'll let you have unless it's a fixed installation?) so I'd prefer diesel rather than LPG if possible. $44 for a 8.5kg swap burning around 1.1 kg an hour would keep me warm only until I ran out of money...
Any thoughts on these heaters?
The other idea I had is a "tank top heater" like these. But that's LPG so $$$ to run unfortunately - otherwise it would be a good idea. Still might do that if the diesel idea doesn't work out. http://www.heatershop.com/tank_top_heaters.html
