    Default hidden treasures

Not much of a restorer myself, but when SWMBO wanted me to round off the corners on our Indonesian table, I took it to the shed and duly stripped, planed and resurfaced the table top as well. The old finish was an awful dark stain, very uneven surface giving that typical "rustic" look which doesn't appeal to me as much as when I bought the thing ten years ago. Looked so much better that I gave the similar Indonesian coffee table the same treatment. Result is that the table tops actually look like teak now! You can see the original finish on the legs of the coffee table (couldn't be bothered with the lower parts...).
Tops sanded back to 320, four coats of wipe-on-poly sanding between, finished off with a coat of carnauba wax. Cheers!

Looks great , i was never tempted to buy any of that stuff
but i remember 10 years ago it was cheap compared to solid
domestic made furniture, it also looked like it had been finished
with a dull axe. Looks like you got a piece that was made from
reasonably seasoned stock to begin with.. with that in mind I have
    a 2 sleigh bed-ends i inherited a while ago, i might just go dust
them off and have a look see
    Cheers
