Semi new kitchen
I would like to share some home renovation experience with you. I started getting the townhouse ready for sale more than a year ago. (It is on the market now).
Anyway my biggest challenge was the kitchen. It was 20 years old and was quite ugly. It didn’t match the style of the rest of the house. It would make it less attractive for sale. My goal was to improve it without having to spend a lot of $$. I know a neighbour spent up to $15,000 for a new kitchen.
Heres what I did
1. replace all handles (12 handlers for $80)
2. replace the bench top with blackbutt floor board (4 square m for$140)
3. new fan ($150)
4. a 5 years old stove(family free)
5. a new microwave ($100)
6. new tile ($150)
7. lino floor (family free)
8. 5 days annual leave ($0)
I am very with the outcome. What do you think?

Nice Wongo..identical to the job I'm doing for my daughter.
So far I've changed the handles!
The top is coming for Christmas!! (Last year!!!!! :eek: )
Did you fix the timber over the old benchtops, or did you remove them entirely?

Funny, I took a sledgie to friends kitchen today and now its in the back of my trailer. Gunna whack the new (melamine/chipboard siigghhh) one in next week. Floors not level, walls not straight, rot in the joists, dodgey paint and tiles all over. I never get the easy ones.

nice job - all it needs is a nice garden window, replete with plants to bring outside in and it will be sold in a flash!

I removed it entirely. Putting a layer of timber on top of it would make it very thick. It also raises the sink by 20cm which has an affect on the plumbing.
