Woodfire - Wetback to cylinder query
Hi
I'm replacing our woodfire with a freestanding one. The old woodfire had a wetback fitted which worked well but the new fire has the inlet/outlet pipes (from the wetback) approximately 200mm higher than the old fire.
The instructions with the new fire concerning the wetback state that... "The flow pipe from the heater (wetback) to the cylinder must rise - the cylinder should be at least 300mm above the water boosting outlet" and the pipes (to the cylinder) have a... "minimum of 1 in 12 rise".
The old fire/wetback met this requirement as the outlet pipes from the wetback were alot lower but with the new fire the bottom of the cylinder will only be approx 100 to 150 mm above the (top) wetback outlet.
Is the 300mm minimum requirment stated above to create a suitable "head" to force the cold water from the cylinder down into the wetback or is the only requirement (for the wetback to work) is that the pipes have a minimum 1 in 12 rise?
If the former, I guess my only option is to raise the hot water cylinder a couple of hundred mm?
I've rambled on a bit, hope the above is clear :sleep5:
cheers
Tim
