drilling old render
posted this in wood working forum but got no replys at all so thought i would try here now
want to put in some screws in outside wall of shop (to hang advertising on , only light stuff ) the wall is very old thick cement render over old bricks
how do i do it with out damageing the render
should i drill thru render with normal drill then switch to hammer drill when i hit the bricks
there has been holes drilled by past tenants and they are now large holes in render as it has crumbled away at edges
think if i use hammerdrill all the way will just shatter and break the render
if drilling is not an option could i glue hooks on to wall with builders glue and would i have to remove the paint from wall where i am glueing to make a strong bond ?
tks david
