I can heartily recommend both their 100% Tung Oil and Orange Tung Oils.

I hadn't previously noticed their butcher's block wipe, but may just give it a go. Have you tried it?

No loss as far as I'm concerned, they smell alright but that's it for me - of course I might not have played with them as much as some others but never got good results from them myself...

I simply rang the phone number on the can a few weeks back, after I found my local Bunnings was sold out, they put me onto the new Vic distributer. Classique Leisure Products
Ray is the contact I spoke to, I asked if I could get some oil and he brought some around to my workshop.

As for the products not being any good, I've tried many oils, Cabots, Rustins, Feast Watson etc etc. Some have thier benifits but in my opinion these Australian Made Organ Oil products are great. I used to use the rustins Danish Oil, Ray brought a can of Organoil Danish Oil to my workshop and I gave it a try. It is a new recipe I'm told, they have gone back to the orignal 200 year old blend. Perhaps some people, like me, should give it another go.
The new Danish Oil blend works great but its important to sand to a very fine grit, no cheating or skipping up grits, sand to around 1200-1500 even. Keep re-applying, flood the piece with oil for about 10mins at least, when flooded go back after 1/2hr and re-apply to any dry bits that need more oil eg. spalted wood areas.
It tends to be a bit thinner than the Rustins, so it takes a bit longer to get that deeper lust in the grain but when you do get it to work it looks fantastic. It makes sense I guess that a thinner oil will go into the timber more, it soaks right in deep and protects the timber fibers. Remember its not a coat of toxic plastic sprayed on for an instant shine. Nice work takes time, get the timber shiny by working through the grits, don't rely on the oil finish to do it or you will never be satisfied with the results from natural oils. Also remember to buff it quite hard after each coat has dried, this brings some of the oil to the surface and removes any patchy areas.

Might sound like hard work but compared to the problems associated with other finishing techniques I think its pretty easy and the good thing is your buying a natural product made in Australia so its not damaging the enviroment or supporting the massive oil industry who put their extract waste products into everything and try to tell us they are better than the old methods with thier huge advertising budgets, don't get me started. Anyway I'm rambling now, better go.

By the way, I am thinking of carrying these oils and waxes in stock so if anyone is interested in buying small amounts for hobby use then please let me know and I can send details of how to get them posted out to you.

I haven't tried their DO, I'm happy with Rustins. I've heard mixed reviews about it from people I know, but then again most of them are used to the modern "teaspoon of Tung Oil waved over a vat of PolyU" type Danishes.

Runnier than Rustin's? Sounds like they've gone back to the original Tung/Linseed mix... That would make me a happy chappy; I'll have to give it a try.

I am into cabinet type work and not into making wood dizzy and I have had excellent results with the Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil but only after proper preparation and plenty of time just like Andrew said.

I ordered 10 L of it today from the Victorian distributor. They take orders over the phone and arrange transport which is important to me. They are also easy to deal with.

Yes I've been told they have gone back to the original 200 year old recipe for the 'Olde Style Danish Oil', its manufactured by Sales Force NSW which also make the Ecowood Oils. They were playing around with the outdoor oils as well, I got a bad batch last year that was not the same as what I normally get but now with the new owners they are getting it right again. I'm pretty sure the ecowood outdoor furniture oil is exactly the same stuff its just marketed under a different name and sold with a different label on the can. I have e-mailed them so I will get back to you with the answer once I know for sure.

I love the screw top lids, beats messing around with paint tin openers and bent lids. They have them on both the 500 and the 1 litre cans now.

'Same products, different brands. It was a strategy put in place under the previous owners to segment the market. A lot of independant stores would not stock the Organoil brand because it was in Bunnings and Mitre 10 stores. The new owners have decided to continue with the 2 brands'
