I've just removed an old tile shower base, with the intention of replacing it with a plastic unit. Unfortunately the damage from years of leakage is more than I was hoping, it is mainly around the waste which had lost its seal, and the edges by the old shower door - see photos. The floorboards in those areas and bottom plate of the wall have some rot - I scraped away quite a bit of wood already - but it does not seem to be structural. The joists underneath don't seem to have been affected and the main part of the floor is fine.

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how much of this timber I need to remove and replace. My plan is to seal the entire floor and tile (it had vinyl but the water had got under that as well). Should I seal right under the shower as well, or would it be ok to just take the floor membrane up to the edge of the shower unit?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated
-Bill.
