Deck as a roof - waterproof
hI,
I am in the design phase of an addition wihich involves place a new rumpus room under our house as our block slopes away.
The issue is I am proposing that part of the new roof appox 21 m2 would be a deck, with no roof over that, which is what exists at the moment (just grd underneath so no waterproofing needed), I am worried about how waterproof long term the new deck would be, builder stated some sort of compressed fibro, I think he meant like what bathrooms a built on with a waterproof membrane & tiled with a fall.
Other option is normal roof however due to the views we wish to keep the deck option, any thoughts ideas on the construction or long term experience with decks as a roof.
A draughty/builder said they usually need re waterproofing in ten years ?????
thanks
