Greetings to all;
I'm new to this experience, but have viewed it with some interest for a while, i have found interesting information so decided to take the plunge, I live in Sydney & am keen to set up a workshop in a double garage which is also unfortunately used for a pesky vehicle, so it must be relatively portable, any information would be grateful in regards to space saving techniques.

Hi CC, welcome.
A car is not so important, nice thing to transport wood and others for your woodwork or your woodturnings.

Welcome CC.
You have to stand firm and explain to you-know-who that garages are not meant for cars.

Sell the car and release some $$ for more worthwhile capital expenditure.

Buy tools only as you need them - that is, don't be a collector for the sake of collecting. Hang what you can on the walls, and if space is available, from the ceiling. Use local firms for major cutting etc., so that you need mostly hand tools to finish the task. Big powered machines take up big space and will not be used as much as you might think.

G'day Casper and welcome to the ratbags corner.
For once all the above advice is very sound indeed.
Have a look through the "Show us tour shed thread" in Woodturning - General on these here forums.
There are also good itmes in some of the woodworking magazines regarding small workshop setups. You can also buy helpful books coevering small woorshops/spaces.

To all & sundry;
All very good comments, except the other half may be a bit on the down side about the car suggestions, & unfortunately i need the tranport for medical reasons, will research thoroughly before making a commitment & try to let you know the results in the near future, thanks heaps.

Casper,
Car belongs in a carport, a garage is where you get supplies for car. What you have is SHED.
Now tell SWMBO that
