Installing a sprung floor
I am looking at quoting for a job which requires a sprung floor. The specifications for the materials are fairly specific but there is no stipulation on the methodology. The sub floor is concrete.
The floor calls for rubber pads (say 100mm square)( every 400mm laid over a VBS of plastic sheeting. Then battens (I assume pine) to be overlaid with the floor which may or may not be secret nailed. From what I can tell though the battens are just sitting free on the rubber pads and the weight of the floor is expected to hold the floor down? I did contemplate running rubber strips at 400mm perpindicular to the battens, rather than pads, however I suspect that would not allow for a sufficient air flow under the boards?
Am I right in my assumptions or have I arsed this up?
The plastic VBS is taped up and sits right across the concrete and up the walls 40mm or so?
The rubber pads just sit on the VBS loose?
The battens sit loose on the rubber pads?
The floor is nailed to the battens?
Cheers and TIA
